“No surprise: AMC renews Better Call Saul for a fourth season.”
AMC president Charlie Collier praised Better Call Saul for supporting talented artists, delivering exceptional character development, and continuing a legacy of bold storytelling. “Truly, ‘S’all good, man,’” he said. “Congratulations to Vince [Gilligan], Peter [Gould], Bob [Odenkirk], and everyone involved. Bring on season four!”
The third season concluded with a surprising finale that [spoiler alert!] likely marked the final appearance of Michael McKean’s character, Chuck McGill, as the series moves closer to its Breaking Bad connection. Season three averaged 3.7 million total viewers, including 1.9 million adults aged 25-54 and 1.7 million adults 18-49 after three days of delayed viewing. This made it the third-highest-rated cable drama among adults 25-54, behind AMC’s The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead.
While Better Call Saul typically receives early renewals, this season’s renewal took longer due to executive changes at both AMC—where longtime programming head Joel Stillerman left for Hulu—and Sony Pictures Television, which saw co-presidents Zack Van Amburg and Jamie Erlicht move to Apple and the arrival of a new CEO at SPE.
