The American Music Awards made a comeback in Las Vegas after a two-year break, with many celebrities drawing style inspiration from Sin City. But none embraced the theme quite like Rebecca Black, who arrived on the red carpet dressed for a shotgun wedding.
Black wore a flouncy, corseted ivory silk taffeta dress, complemented by a bridal veil and a monogrammed sailor hat—a standout piece from LA designer Erik Charlotte’s maritime-inspired Fall 2024 collection.
When asked by Variety if she planned to wear a wedding gown, Black joked, “I did not, but then we ended up here, and I said of course I’m getting married.” She also told Billboard she aimed to look like “an angel,” adding, “I wanted to float down the carpet.”
Rising to fame as a teen in 2011 with the viral hit “Friday,” Black has since evolved her sound toward hyperpop and Boiler Room-approved DJ sets, opening for Katy Perry and launching her own tours. She has been open about the struggles of early fame, telling Good Morning America in 2020 that online bullying over her song left her “unbelievably depressed.”
